Brass hilt with P form guard and lobed pommel. Fine spirally fluted ivory grip. 28 3/4" curved broad fullered blade decorated first half with eagle, military trophies with Liberty Cap, foliage and wavy ribbon pattern, probably influenced by the "Turkish Silk" pattern of watered steel. Glossy gray patina. Scarce pattern and undoubtedly served in the Civil War, possibly in the Confederacy.
